Madeleine Saraceni is an experienced teacher of literature and writing. She holds a PhD in English Language and Literature from Yale (2016), specializing in medieval literature. Her dissertation, “Dearest Ladies: The Idea of Writing for Women in Medieval English Literature,” explored the address to the female reader in medieval literature written in the vernacular. Her work has appeared in The Chaucer Review. Madeleine is passionate about the craft of teaching and has taught courses on Chaucer, dream visions, major English poets (Chaucer to Donne), medieval women writers, literary history, the history of the book, tragedy in the European literary tradition, creative nonfiction and expository prose. She is committed to nurturing a love of reading and writing in her students and to countering the effects of social media and AI on students’ attention, critical thinking and originality. Madeleine is mom to two wonderful children, ages 12 and 9. Her hobbies include cooking healthy comfort food and reading fiction.
